GenoPro Gamma saw the introduction of an option to display dates on the genogram in one of two formats, either [birth ]-[ death] or [birth|birth - death|D. death]. This is controlled by the Display menu option 'GenoPro Dates'

However this option appears to be ignored by the Report Generator module of GenoPro when creating the 'Display.Label.Top.Text' tags as only the original format is generated e.g.

In GenoPro with DisplayGenoProDates set

but in the Narrative Report using the 'Display.Label.Top.Text' tag values created by the GenoPro Report Generator:

i.e. Genogram Dates setting has been ignored.

p.s.

Now that GenoPro 2011 is available, I think we should have a new section on the forum with sub forums  similar to GenoPro 2007.

The Genogram Dates uses special code to draw the date of birth aligned to the left and the date of death aligned to the right.  It was mostly to create 'standard genograms' for book publishing. People drawing genograms usually do not generate reports, so we can ignore this.

What would you suggest to go around this problem?

I understood from earlier forum posts that this was also useful for not English-speaking users of GenoPro, as the use of D. as an abbreviation for Died is I assume not universal. Could GenoPro not just set the text in the Display.Label.Top.Text tag to be the same as that displayed on the Genomap?

I think they are in fact 3 text field, left (birth), center - and right (death). Dan would need to confirm that. But they could probably be return as one string but not guarantied to be centered.

Could GenoPro not just set the text in the Display.Label.Top.Text tag to be the same as that displayed on the Genomap?
The problem is the date of birth and the date of death would become indistinguishable.  The Genogram Date option does draw those dates to the left and the right, making the date of birth and date of birth visible, however returning the date as plain text without the "D" at the beginning could also mean the date of death if the date of birth is not specified.
