I would like to put my family tree on my website. I have tried the built-in Web Publishing option but it creates far too many items. I just want to put the tree as displayed in the main Genopro window on the web, that's all.
I've tried to put the emf file on the web but the quality isn't good enough. I've converted the emf file to a jpg but again the quality isn't good. I've tried more than one program to convert the emf file but no luck.
I first began by taking several screen shots of the GenoPro tree and then 'glued' them together as jpgs on the web page. The result was very good but was a bit tedious and if there was an update to the tree I would have to do it again, very frustrating!!
I would be most grateful if anyone can suggest how I can do this, it seems a simple enough thing to want to do. Thanks in advance.

Probably the simplest answer is to print a pdf version of the display. If you do not have one, get a free download of a pdf printer such as Cutepdf which will install as an additional printer. Then make sure that in page layout you only have one page selected (horizontal & vertical). Select print and choose your pdf printer, which will ask for a file name

Thanks very much appleshaw, I shall have a go with your suggestion.
EDIT: I've used CutePDF as you suggested but the output quality is still inferior to what I had when using direct screenshots of the GenoPro tree.
I don't want to access the tree via a pdf file so I converted it to a jpg. After experimenting with several GenoPro print layout parameters like page dimensions, no. of pages and scale % I still couldn't get a satisfactory quality.
I did try using the pdf file directly from the server but again the quality wasn't good enough.
I haven't quite given up yet but if you or anyone have any more suggestions I would be grateful.

I have settled on exporting to a metafile and using that on the website. The quality isn't as good as a screen shot from the GenoPro window but at least I get the whole tree in one file and don't have to glue several pieces together each time.

Hi,
I use CutePDF for some of my Genopro output,
If you don't get good enough quality, have you tried changing the advanced settings in CutePDF? (Properties--> Paper/Quality --> Advanced)
You can change the paper size to something larger, (like A0) {it doesn't matter that its larger than your printer size, as will be outputting to a PDF file} Or you could stay with A4 or A3 paper size, and increase the Graphic print quality to a higher DPI (CutePDF seems to support up to 4000 DPI)
The end result is a single page PDF, which can be zoomed to see the small details quite clearly.
CutePDF also supports various paper sizes and formats up to 36" x 108", so you can produce widescreen format PDF, if your tree is very wide. (but not at high DPI)

Hi Check out this web page
http://www.hughesdna.com/ test poster458/test site458
Is this what you want? I have this hanging on my wall. I have a jpeg image on my pc.
I will have to get my brains in gear as no one records just how they completed a project.

Thanks 78974, I have experimented with CutePDF's parameters but I just can't get it as I wanted. I think the problem is that I don't want the web access to be via a PDF file, I want it to be a JPG file. So I have to convert the PDF file to a JPG file, which loses some of the quality.
I'm still working on it though!

waveydavey49, this is almost the same as mine except I have a plain white background. I'll see how it looks with a picture background.
BTW How do you change the GenoPro version in your profile? I can't find it anywhere, I'm on 2.5.3.8.

At last I have finally got what I wanted in terms of quality of output.
In GenoPro I Export to Metafile.
Then in Irfanview I convert the Metafile to JPG format. (I wish I'd tried this first!!)
The output is pretty good.
Big sigh!!
BTW I discovered that Firefox doesn't like metafiles without extra plugins (IE is OK) so that's why I have gone back to jpgs. The output is better anyway.
