I have just upgraded from genoPro 2007 (free) to GenoPro 2011 (paid for). All works fine and GNO files open in GenoPro v2.5.3.9 but my Windows XP Folder Options shows the program associated with GNO file types is still 'GenoPro 2007 - Picture Your Family Tree!'.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled but the glitch remains. Any ideas?

This problem is with MFC, the framework GenoPro was built.  When GenoPro is first installed, it registers the .gno file extension with the name of the application "GenoPro 2007", however does not change a file association once registered.  Thus, when you install GenoPro 2011, the .gno file extension is already registered, therefore unchanged.

To fix this, simply use the Registry Editor (regedit.exe) and search for all instances of GenoPro 2007 and replace by GenoPro 2011.  The Registry Editor is a powerful tool, so please be careful to not accidentally delete registry keys containing system info necessary to boot your computer.

All sorted. Many thanks. You gave me the confidence to delve into the registry and my 'pooter' is still working!
