Dear GenoPro Support,

When AutoArranging my current family tree, GenoPro always places some people in a way, that some relationship lines are overlapping each other. This problem has never occured before, although my family tree has already been rather complicated. Whom can I send my file for review with a bug report, in the hope that the error will be corrected in the following update?

Thanks,

Peter

Ah, another 'quest for the Holy Grail' BigGrin

AutoArrange can work for simple trees but does not for complex trees. If anyone believes they have an algorithm or methodology for success then please publish it here. There has been much discussion on this forum about AutoArrange which you can easily find.

You can improve 'Autoarrange' performance by splitting your tree over several genomaps to keep them simple. (split from one partner where both partners have a significant ancestor tree). You can also try using hyperlinks within the same genomap to move a spouse's ancestor tree to another part of the page.  You will find some level of manual arrangement is always required, but by carefully selecting branches of the tree and then using the 'Arrange Selection' button (partial AutoArrange) this task can be simplified. It is often not possible to avoid crossing lines on a large tree without using hyperlinks of some kind.

In short I believe it is not a 'bug' or 'error' in GenoPro, but an acknowledged limitation, and so a bug report would serve no purpose.
