Is there a way to integrate GenoPro with another software for genetic counselling management?
We are a software development company and we're looking for a pedigree tool to integrate in our software...
Thank for your answers,

Do you wish to save your genogram in a third-party database, or you wish to draw the genograms with GenoPro and have the third-party software draw those genograms, or do you wish GenoPro to fetch the data from your third-party software and generate a genogram for you?

Can you please tell me which software you wish to connect GenoPro with? GenoPro offers a few APIs (functions) for those options and we may add new.

Hi!
Thank you for your answer, so, I work for NoemaLife S.p.A. (www.noemalife.com) an italian society specialized in e-health software solutions and we've recently developed a software (called EOS) specific for genetic counselling and genetic tests management.
What we would like to do is call in some way (with API functions..) a third-party software, like GenoPro, in order to give the possibility to the user to draw a genograms... the idea is:
1. we call GenoPro in order to create a new genogram
2. the user draw the genogram directly into GenoPro
3. the user save the genogram and GenoPro, instead of saving a file on the local disk, gives back the file to our software
4. we save the genogram in our database
---
5. if the user wish to modify the genogram he use our software and we call back GenoPro with the file stored on our database to be opened and modified

Of course all this works if the end user has GenoPro or will buy it, we can even evaluate the possibility to sell GenoPro within our solution but this will take of course a commercial agreement with you to be eventually studied and defined... for the moment it will be enough for us to have the possibility to call GenoPro if installed on the client and receive back the specific file to be stored.

If you wish to contact me directly in order to talk about this my email is lsoverini@noemalife.com

Thank you!

GenoPro supports such features.
1. Use the method SetTextXML() to inject the XML of your genogram.  You may generate the XML from your database, or fetch it as a long UTF-8 string (or blob) from the database.
2. Let the user modify the genogram.
3. Trap the save event from GenoPro, and use the method GetTextXML() to get the genogram as a long UTF-8 string and store that string in your database.

We have the source code available at http://www.genopro.com/sdk/automation/plugin.aspx

GenoPro also supports the feature of "External Storage" (http://www.genopro.com/sdk/external-storage/).  If you wish this feature, please contact us, and we will enable this feature for you.

Thank you very much for your answer!
I think that that's exactly what we're looking for! I've already downloaded the example in order to look better at it.

Just one last question... do you have any "developer licence" option? As I've written before our first step is to integrate our software with GenoPro if GenoPro is already in use in the laboratory we will install our product but it will be interesting for us even to know if it's possible to have a developer licence or something similar in order to install GenoPro togeather with our software?

Thank you again

Just download and install http://www.genopro.com/InstallGenoPro.exe and start the integration.  You do not need to buy anything to use it.  If you need the "External Storage", please let me know and I will provide you a build.  This feature is working, however was removed from the menus because the File menu is already too long.  In the future, we want to add another menu to include the "online services and collaboration module".

Hope that this is my last question :-)

Do you provide even the possibility to distribute your software within another one? Is there a distribution licence or something like it that we can buy in order to install a full version of GenoPro directly with our software?

If it's possible, please write me at lsoverini@noemalife.com in order to understand how to procede in this way.
Thank you for all the answers you gave me!

You are welcome to distribute GenoPro with your software.  As for the distribution license, we offer a discount, so you can purchase GenoPro on behalf of your client.  When you distribute your software, you simply tell your client your software package includes a full site license of GenoPro.

Hi,

I represent a software company in Chile and we would like to add genogram capabilities to our product. I see the solution offered to Lorenza, suits for us. Actually, what we need is:

1) Select 'create genogram' (or 'edit') from our product
2) Send xml data to GenoPro and launch it
3) GenoPro starts with a base diagram
4) Complete it using GenoPro tools
5) Save the genogram back to our system and close GenoPro

Steps 3, 4, and 5 should be performed by GenoPro.

Questions:

1) Can we do what we want with the GenoPro's API?
2) Is it possible to use one Site License in order to distribute GenoPro within our product?

Regards,

Federico
