Hi All,

I have many genograms and store these files in a folder (directory) on my C: drive.  The path is  C:\Data\Genopro.  I need to change the directory path to > U:\Data\Genopro   but I can't find out how to do this.

It becomes a problem because when I go to Open a file from the File Menu or use the Open Icon, it defaults to the C:\Data\Genopro path.   It also automatically saves a new genogram to the default directory.

Currently I have to ensure I travel to the correct directory each and every time I open or save a file.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Blaine

If you save to drive U then the next time you try to open a file U is the first choice - at least on my PC. There might be a problem if you are using some form of external memory - U sounds like a memory stick. Certainly all my files are on a separate drive & directory and the program defaults there automaticlly . It just remembers what I did last time.

You have two places in the Registry where you may specify the default folder: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GenoPro.com\PathSaveAs and HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\GenoPro.com\PathSaveAs.

If you don't know how to use the Registry Editor, you may use the installer to write the value for you. See http://www.genopro.com/setup/command-line/ for details.

Thanks Appleshaw ... U:\ is actually a network drive.

When I go to the "File" Menu, I get a list of the 9 most recent files and their directory.  And if I go to "Open" from the file menu (or use the "Open" icon), it defaults to the "My Documents" folder now.  Something I do not want!

I have Windows Explorer defaulting to my C:\Data directory rather than "My Documents" and that could be the issue? I did some playing around and now it goes to "My Documents".  It was defaulting to the C:\ directory before. So it is picking up information somewhere?

I'm going to try GenoProSupport's idea next.

Thanks to both of you.

I'll let you know what works :-)
