Hi all

I am really hoping you can help.

I am trying to get my site printed but I am really struggling to be able to get the marriages to appear on a GEDCOM when I have exported the tree.

They appear when I reopen the GEDCOM in Genopro, but they don't appear in other family history packages and they don't appear on Ancestry.

Please help!

Thanks
Tash

Hi Tash,

Have your tried using 'Export to Gedcom' via the Report Generator?  This will produce a more compatible Gedcom file.

GenoPro's built-in Export/Export to Gedcom is a proprietary format loosely based on Gedcom and as you have discovered, only of use when re-importing to GenoPro.

The other question is have you tried the report writing in GenoPro? There are options available from within the tools menu

Hiya

Thanks for your replies.

Yes I have tried the export to gedcom, that's what seem to strip the marriage details.

What options do you recommend me try on the report generator.

Thanks
Tash

I am surprised the Gedcom export misses some marriage data. Did you use the first option under Export - via Report Generator?
However if you go to the Tools Menu you can open the Report Generator and choose a skin. The standard version is the English Narrative Report, built in to GenoPro. However there have been improvements to this which can be downloaded from this forum at http://support.genopro.com/Topic28332.aspx. This will produce a text file which can be looked at in a Word Processor and printed, for those who do not have a PC.
I normally produce a report that can either be put onto a Cd or use the GenoPro server so that others can look at it online

To create a text report you need to select the Descendants Report skin, after having selected the person at the head of the tree you want to list. This will then prepare a text file and load it into Word or Open Office.
Sorry about the earlier message. I was away and using a netbook, which can not generate reports, so I described the system that I use for PC use, or putting on the GenoPro Familytrees site

Hiya

Sorry for the delay in replying, we have just seen off the last of our Christmas guests.

Thanks for the advice, does this told true for producing a gedcom that allows a company to print out my family tree?

Thanks again
Tash

Do you just want to print the genogram display - using a commercial printer? This has been discussed on the forum. Search using printshop as keyword.
Basically you need to instal a pdf printer/driver, such as Cutepdf or Novapdf - there are several free programs for this. There is quite a lot of advice on the forum about the settings you need to make for this 'printer' within GenoPro. It depends a bit on how large the finished page will be.
When you print to this printer it will produce a file which you can take to a print house. You could use a text label to add information about the display
