I have had my computer upgraded and while I have re-installed Genopro and I do have my registration key, I can not sort out how to bring up my files.
Any help gladly received,

Andrew

If your files are still on your hard discs then open GenoPro and from the main file menu open the Find menu. This will search for any .gno files.
You can also open this by pressing Ctrl+Shift+F

Thanks for the note.

I thought that my files would be stored with GenoPro - isn't that the whole point with purchasing a web-based product, ie, not having to store such a large file on my computer?

I have checked, using the suggested method, but do not see my previous files listed.

You can store your files on the GenoPro web server but you have to save them there. I think none of the family history programs store the data within the program.  If you have created a web based report it will normally include a copy of the .gno file which is your basic data - but not any pictures which will be in a separate directory/folder.
When you used GenoPro on the old system the files would have been saved when you close the program. If you can access the old drives the files can be retrieved. However if you do not have any other backups I think you have problems.

yup, I have problems.  The drive was wiped clean and then updated.

Thank you again for your help, now i have to get busy recreating 450 years of family history.  I just never thought that I would have needed to save anywhere except to GenpPro - that's just me not understand the way of things.

You have my sympathy. The first time that I had a drive failure it went gradually (chkdsk kept finding errors) so I did not loose too much data. Since then I have tried to remember to back-up all data files - your message prompted me to make a New Year archive.
One other thing that I do is to partition a disc so that the OS and program files are on the C: drive and data are on a separate partition. In this way if you want to upgrade the OS (or happen to suspect a virus) you can format the C: drive but not touch the data. It is easy to do this with a new install (partition a clean disc) but if you have data on the disc you need a program to move the data to a new partition

I agree with appleshaw. It is necessary to take a backup of all your important data before upgrading your OS.Thanks for the suggestion guys.
