I have gone back to the previous skin (the one that comes with the exe since I am having trouble with the latest (see http://support.genopro.com/Topic31259.aspx).
The PDF display shows both a left toolbar and a search bar on the left also taking up a lot of real estate. There is also a toolbar on top that may be removed by an option in the config.xml. There appears to be no entry in the config.xml for removing the left side toolbars and search bar.
I believe the latest skin behaves the same.
Is there a way to remove these toolbars from the left hand side by default? Thanks

Also noted that the default zoom of 100% is a little high for the PDF maps. Is it possible to default the PDF zoom to 50%, somehow? Thank you

Playing some more with the PDF display from the report, when launching the PDF from the main heading icon, the left toolbar and search window does not show, as I want. But, launching the PDF from an individual page, the left toolbar and the search window appears and reduces the display real estate drastically. It would be great to launch the PDF from the individual page to be the same as launching from the heading at a 50% zoom.

The toolbar/sidebar and zoom are specific to Adobe's PDF Reader. AFAIK no other PDF reader can be customized in this way. I will look to see if I can change the iniitial zoom level for Adobe PDF. This should be possible as at present the script sets it explicitly to 100%.
The PDF display was introduced at a time when SVG was not widely supported. Now that SVG has universal support in modern browsers I am wondering why it is still thought necessary. Perhaps you could give your reasons. Thanks

The main reasons are: 1. That the PDF can be printed by using the top toolbar 'Print'. 2. The Pdf can be saved in a familiar format for older viewers. 3. Some of these older viewers may not have updated browsers to view SVG.

The latest Narrative Report (2013.02.17) fixes the PDF zoom and the left toolbar with the search window no longer shown when launching from the individual. Great! When launching from an individual, that individual's name used to be highlighted in a sort of blue colour in the PDF genomap. This is No longer happens. Was this change intentional or just a bug?

I think this may be a case of either or, either you have the highlight and search bar or nothing as I believe the highlight is a result of the search, but I will double check.

If after double checking, it is an either or situation, then I have trouble deciding which I prefer. Maybe an option to choose together with the other options would allow me to go one way and change my mind later if need be. Thanks

The PDF initial zoom no longer works. When launching the pdf display from an individual, the whole genome is shown with no zooming even though it is set up for 50%. I think that the Adobe PDF Reader has been updated. I wonder if this is the cause? Thanks
