Received a number of records showing not only
baptism
data but also confirmation data, however can only enter either one of them. Usually both are common events for a single
person
.
Will this be possible in any(if any) future release?

Well technically it is 'possible' but given the lack of development over the past
year
and more I would say highly improbable
There have been several requests in the past to be able to record specific and generic events in GenoPro with no positive response.
However it would be useful to store this event/attribute data in Genopro and retrieve in
reports
and
export to Gedcom
. I propose that the
Occupation
object is used to record such
information
for individuals and the
Union
object for
family
events and attributes.
I will commit to providing enhancement to Narrative and Export to GedCom report skins to support these.
The mechanism I suggest is:
Create an Occupation and Union
custom tag
Event. Record in this tag the equivalent Gedcom tag e.g. CONF - Confirmation, DSCR - Physical Description RELI - religious affiliation etc.
** N.B.
GenoPro does not allow direct entry of custom tags in the
grid
view at the bottom of the Occupation/Union properties dialog. Instead it is necessary to click the Edit button and then the appropriate Custom Tag tab and enter the Event name.
Event names other than Gedcom standard tags can be used but no standard
Narrative phrase
will be provided by me and on export the generic Gedcom 'EVEN' tag will be used with the TYPE subtag set to the Event name used.
The Occupation job title field should be used for any event/attribute qualifier (e.g. actual description for DSCR tag) and the employer field for any agency involved e.g. priest officiating at confirmation for CONF
Similarly use the Union Witnesses and Officiator fields for family events/attributes.
You could always use the GenoPro Dialog
Translation
tool to change the display titles of these fields.
The only other fields that should be used are Date Start/End,
Place
,
Source
/Sources and Comment.
In some ways this is similar to the use of 'NarrativeStyle'. NarrativeStyle will still be supported in the
Narrative Report
but should only be used as its name suggests to give an alternative format of the narrative for a particular event/attribute, not to define the type of event/attribute.
I know this solution is far from ideal but maybe 'the end justifies the means'. The great advantage is that the information gets recorded can subsequently be converted to Gedcom format to be used elsewhere if required.
