Every time I save my file it adds another .v1x before the file extension. Why is it doing this and how do I make it stop?

Which version of GenoPro are you using? It sounds like v.1

Genopro 2 beta 13h is an interim between Genopro 1.9x, and Genopro 2.0x
It saves its files in a format backwards compatible to Genopro 1.9x, and adds v1x before the .gno extension to identify them. (I've got an old file named "Document 13h.v1x.v1x.gno"; so it does seem to append the v1x multiple times)
To get around the v1x problem, I think you need to be using a non-beta version.
This is not a problem if you've already paid for a copy of Genopro, (which gives you a permanent Registration Key) because you can download a later version, and re-enter your (paid for) regisistration key into the new version.
However, it's a problem if you don't have a paid for registration key, ( Genopro 2 beta 13h is the last version which is free, and does not require a payment or a registration key) Then, I don't think that there is any solution except for purchasing a copy, (or you could try just deleting al bit one of the multiple .v1x from the filename, to prevent it growing)
If you purchase a copy, you just get an email with a registration key that you paste into the Registration Key box on the Help / About Genopro option)
Genopro are quite good regarding version updates, for example my paid for registration key from 2005 (Genopro 1.99 / 2.00) is still valid for the latest Genopro v2.5.4.1 license. And it allows you personally to use on more than 1 PC (a Desktop at home or office, and a Laptop for portable use)
There have been many advances to Genopro since 2 beta 13h ( including it now handles very much larger Genograms which is my main like)
Have a look at http://www.genopro.com/setup/history/ for the various version history, Aslo http://www.genopro.com/archives/ for the various version downloads

Thanks for the info. I'll probably just buy a license as this it the only genealogy software I've found so far that does what I want it to do, i.e. display a standard chart of all people in the tree. I'm sure there is much more to the software than what I'm using it for and once I buy the license I'll start trying out some of the other features.

If you do upgrade to the latest version, which is well worth the cost, do also download the latest Report Skins from this forum. The versions bundled in the program will cause problems. The links are on this forum and also next to the Download GenoPro link on the 'buy' site
