I wish to have the family tree printed on 3 foot wide paper at a printing service.  They need a PDF file, but don't know how.

You need a pdf printer driver such as CutePdf or PrimoPDF
Look at http://support.genopro.com/Topic30436.aspx?Keywords=cutepdf

In 2012 I was able to send a copy of the family tree to Staples where they printed it as an engineering drawing, ie. the paper was 3 feet wide and each of the two sections was about 4 feet.  I have forgotten what format I use to export it.  I tried copying it in Meta onto a memory stick today, but they couldn't open it.

Problem solved!!  I exported the tree as a Metafile to a file folder on my computer.  I went to Staples print shop on line and used the engineering drawing option and then uploaded my file.  Staples automatically converted the file to a PDF file which they will print.  I pick up the copies in two days.

Hope this helps others.

Okay, I can get the MetaFile converted to a PDF file by using the Staples website, BUT they cannot enlarge the resulting file so it is readable.  I have looked throughout GenoPro and do not see a way to export the file large enough to be printed.  I had it printed two years ago on a 36x48 inch sheet and it worked perfectly, but Staples is now telling me that they can't enlarge the PDF file that they receive.  Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Richard MacSorley

Hello,

You could try the following;

Install CutePDF Writer, which is one of Appleshaw's suggestions,
Then open GenoPro, and use File / Page layout option to set the "Single Page"  and "Page Dimension" to 48 x 36 for the Genomap you want to print
(you will see a blue background preview of your genogram)
OK to this

Then in GenoPro, File / Print; select CutePDF Writer as the printer, use Properties / Advanced, and set the paper to "Postscript Custom Page Size", and then "Edit Custom Page Size" and change this to 48 x 36 with the units as inches.
OK to this, and print your PDF, saving the file to where you need it.

Update:

I tried this on one of my GenoPro "Genograms", (setting the CutePDF Writer to 300 DPI, as I thought 600 DPI was too detailed for a 48" x 36" print)

The resulting PDF looked quite detailed when I viewed it onscreen, and the amount of downscaling to fit it on A4 paper  indicated that the PDF which had been created was 48" x 36"

CutePDF Writer supports quite a number of large paper sizes ( up to 200" x 200")
However, 48" x 36" is not on the dropdown list, which is why need to use the "Postscript Custom Page Size" option to create a custom size paper of 48" x 36"

Hope this helps,
Martyn
