Hi Jay,GenoPro does not support ecomaps. We are rebuilding GenoProX from scratch and I wonder if you have documentation about ecomaps so we can learn more about them. Do you have experience drawing and using ecomaps?

Interesting topic and it certainly seems that ecomaps are a reasonable fit with GenoPro's current implementation of Social Entities and emotional/social relationships.
Looking at examples here http://www.genogramanalytics.com/examples_ecomaps.html on first look it would seem that ecomaps could be created using GenoPro/GenoProX by having an option for a circular version of the current Social Entity/Organisation.

A good start to look at this is the use of the household function and to go from there. A circular version is not suitable for pictures nor is the present household shape(irregular shape). A circular shape takes more space if it contains text.

I still think Social Entities for ecomap 'systems' is the best fit because of the existing relationship mechanism. From what I have read an ecomap system is always represented by a circle. Fitting text into a circle is somewhat of a challenge to program but there are solutions out there. Some ecomaps have a genogram at the centre enclosed by a circle. Since ecomaps are purely a visual tool this circle can be a round social entity or 'system' placed below the genogram.
Households are used to group individuals not a genogram and cannot be shown independently (i.e. without individuals). Maybe Dan has an opinion on this? Is it viable for GenoProX

Yes, I am really considering the Ecomaps, however I have very little information about them. About a decade ago, I saw the link http://www.genogramanalytics.com/examples_ecomaps.html however this is all information I have about Ecomaps. GenoProX will have addons to do animal pedigree, org charts and so on, so Ecomaps may come a bit later. I am mostly interested to chat with someone with professional experience making and using ecomaps.

GenoPro 2011 is primarily built for genograms, and while it can be adapted for basic ecomaps, it's not the most intuitive tool for that purpose. see this ecomap maker online
