When a
person
takes a second spouse the
family line
is extended. In my view this is not clear and I have to go through the stages shown below to get a family line joining the individuals, avoiding the existing line.
Is the existing initial view the standard for genogram construction? If not it would be better if the addition of a second spouse
started
with the fourth stage shown here.

I have been wondering
about
this for some time as well. Having relationship lines at the same Y co-ordinate is confusing and can lead to all kinds of unpleasantness if parents are moved without moving their children with them (child lines bent out of shape, etc.). Creating new spouses with their own complete family lines to the shared spouse might also
help
(in a small way) to resolve the
AutoArrange
issues with multiple spouses.
