So... I have a *very* large genogram (over 17K individuals) that I have been working the problems out of since upgrading to GenoPro 2016. In January of this year (five months ago), I backed up my entire GenoPro directory (and everything else, but the rest of it isn't important by comparison). Shortly after that, I began breaking up the genogram to make it easier to work with. Since then, I have decided that I want to stick with the original unbroken genogram (mostly because selecting ancestors/descendants doesn't continue the selection through hyperlinks)... and reconnecting all of my breaks is going to be *hideously* time-consuming. Along the way, I added half a dozen individuals to the tree I was modifying (total count 17,407 vs 17,413). Finding them and adding them to the old tree will be straightforward enough... they will be the last six individuals created. However, I also added and corrected data for other individuals in the tree along the way, and I would like to be able to compare the two trees in their entirety (all data for individuals). I have a free binary file comparison tool, but it doesn't give me the information I need within GenoPro. Is there a way to do this, or are there plans to add this functionality to a future version?

So... turns out my backups aren't old enough (I guess I started that fragmentation process earlier than I thought), so I'm continuing on with the re-connection of individuals to families manually. I'll return when this is complete... some time in the next decade. Sick

One way to compare .gno file is to "unzip" them.  You can right-click on the .gno file and select an "unzip" program such as 7-zip http://www.7-zip.org/download.html

Or rename the extension .gno to .zip

Then, extract the file data.xml and give it a meaningful name such as "MyFamilyTree20170613.xml".  Do the same for the other .gno file you want to compare.

You may use a tool such as Windiff http://www.softpedia.com/get/File-managers/WinDiff.shtml or Notepad++ https://notepad-plus-plus.org/ which do file comparison.
