Hi I love GenoPro and had been using the free version for a couple of yrs before I bought paid up version many moons ago. Its the best for me by far and I've tried many but I would love to have a version on my smart phone. I visit mum 3 times a week ( she's in assisted care as bed ridden) but a Sunday is set aside talking about the family. We have covered a lot of subjects, using her and my extensive photo collection as triggers for her memory. I than have to take these rough hand written notes back home and print out anything I wish to show her or if she asks me about the tree, I have to delve into previous printouts to show her. I haven't deserted GenoPro but have bought Heredis for a trial, as it works on my phone as well as my desktop but to me it also falls short in many ways. I don't want to publish my tree as many of the family don't want it and have only given me information, as long as its not published. Trouble with using this new software, when using GEDCOM its not transferring all the information for each individual and that has to be transferred in bits manually!!? I would love a compact version of GenoPro I could upload to cloud and download to my phone. Is this possible we could have this available in the future? |

If you create a report on the GenoPro site and then go to http://collaboration.genopro.com/Account.aspx you can then make the report Password protected which should satisfy family members who do not want details published. You can also make the file hidden which is another layer of secrecy. A smartphone will then be able to see the report in a browser, (as long as you remember the password!)

We are all waiting (and waiting) for the multi-platform, including mobile, GenoProX to materialise but there is no real indication at present as to when that might happen.
You can find a little bit about its development and progress on this forum such as Status Updates or try searching for GenoProX. I have produced a 'Web app' called GenoTab for viewing your existing GenoPro data on mobiles and tablets. See Introducing GenoTab.

Smartphone/tablet support is in GenoProX. One of the major features that we invest time in is Multi Device support for the same profile. That said, We will definitely release PC Mac/Windows/Linux beta releases before we release SmartPhone/Tablet beta releases. This is primarily because the vast majority of our current customer base will use GenoProX on a PC. The core itself has been tested on SmartPhones, actually on a fairly old Galaxy 5, and even on a older Google Nexus S (7 year old phone) But at the moment we are not investing time on the SmartPhone/tablet UI. Our main short term goal is to get a Beta release out that you can start using.
Thank you for your support.

Thank you for your replies and about uploading tree to account and password protecting. I tried and failed to do this several times and gave up. I just couldn't grasp what i was douing wrong but tried again this last week and its a success. I had been doing it wrong as i didn't really understand. I completely misunderstood because i can now see, i wasn't following the instructions to the letter, so obviuosly it wouldn't work and thats why i couldn't grasp what was happening. So for all those out there embacking on the same, read instructions carefully several times and then follow them every step....WAS it worth It? Yes, i can now (as long as i have internet access) get access to the family tree complete with all the notes attached to individuals. Thank you for your advice. I love using Genopro ever since i used the free version many years ago |
