This is part of the standard
report
produced from GenoPro's Ahnentafel Report, which gives a list of direct ancestors, arranged by generation. When I prepared this recently I used my alternative file where I have only listed direct ancestors, instead of my main file which is spread across several
Genomaps
. Should have realised that the report can cover multiple displays - as this one does.
I have had to edit the file to produce the names in
surname
order when comparing with other people's DNA results. I have tested with Ancestry and also loaded the results to GedMatch. From
contacts
on these sites I am trying to
find
links
. Ancestry
family trees
can show a list of all names (search a name on the
tree
display) and taking surnames off my list it can be searched.
Early days and only found one definite match so far - and to be honest the match was identified from the other side, which got me
started
here. However I did find where the link is in this case

Could you include some
screenshots
of those reports? I'm not familiar with them.
I've found the Family Tree Visualization Tool created by Brad Lyon to be very helpful. I
export a GEDCOM
from Genopro, and import it into the tool. Here is a blog
about
the current features in the tool:
http://familytreeviz.blogspot.com/2015/09/features-of-family-tree-visualization.html
I can start with myself (or whoever the test subject is), show all their ancestors ... click on a possible common ancestor, and then display all of their descendants.
I find this also makes it easier to see who you have to test for Triangulations.

I have recently been getting contacts about
genetic
matches and am trying to find where links might be. The Ancestor Report is very useful to
send
to people as it focuses just on the family names at the 'top' of the tree. However it is in
family
order which makes
comparison
with other lists more of a challenge.
I thought of attempting an
edit of the report
writer to create a list in surname order - and then thought better of that. I only have two reports and so can edit the report.
Do others think such an alternative would be useful?
