I know I've posted about something similar to this before, but my search fu is weak today and I'm not finding it. It was definitely last year, so it's been a while.
Anyway, what I want to do is fix the consistency of spellings of place names in my genogram, and when I search for a place name, the search results don't return the individuals whose information contains that place name, and I can't edit place names from the results list that I *do* get. There has to be an easier way to do this than to go through each individual manually to see if the place name matches, and fix it if necessary.

There is a much much easier way to do this!
Use GenoPro's mis-named Table Layout / Delete / Delete Places and Locations. It is really a Place merge not a Place delete Delete a miss-spelt Place name and GenoPro will then prompt you for the Place to replace it with, so you then choose the correctly spelt name. Simples.

Thank you! I'll play with that and see what I can do.
All that said, it would be nice if the basic search function would show the contents of all fields. Hopefully this will happen in GenoProX.

So... the "Delete Places and Locations" didn't prompt me to replace the deleted value with anything. I had some luck with the search and replace function, and for some reason only once got a message saying that the new place name was identical to another existing one, but I'm still at a loss for how to merge place names like you describe. I'll keep playing with it.

So... apparently, if you edit the place name manually to be the same as another, it gives you a "duplicate" error message... but if you copy and paste the entire place name, it doesn't... interesting. But I'm guessing that's not the "merge" you were referring to.

So if you delete a place that has 'dependents' or references, you don't see the list of substitutes at the bottom? It defaults to <None>.
Not exactly a prompt
