Hi,

I just tested the latest skin package (2021-09-30) with both EN and NL-BE skins (narrative reports only) and everything ran OK.
The only thing I noticed is that the overall processing seems to take longer.  I used my master Genogram to produce two reports in local mode.
The Genogram contains 4465 individuals, 1528 families, 1066 pictures.

When generating to a new, empty folder, it produced 7531 pages on 4164 seconds = 69 minutes.
When updating an old, non-empty folder, it produced 7531 pages (2638 unchanged, 4893 written) in  4088 seconds = 68 minutes.
So, clearly the changed/unchanged cache does not seem to make much difference.

It's very well possible that my PC is getting old, but I'm not the only one in that situation.
Maybe it's time to do some performance tuning, if possible?

You should find that turning off any real time antivirus checking should improve run times with local reports, otherwise each of the many files produced will be scanned for viruses. Provided you do nothing else when running a report this should safe but you could disconnect from the internet if you have any concerns.  Regarding cache/no cache, I think GenoPro will always produce the file locally and then check its checksum against its cache record to decide whether or not to upload /copy the file so may this is why there is little difference in times.

As you are aware the Narrative Report is generated using VBScript, a dead product as far as MS is concerned and so no chance of MS improving its performance.  The Narrative Report is a bit of a dinosaur with some clunky coding. I am now a bit 'too long in the tooth' to think about improving it.  Dynamic page generation from a data file as per GenoTab would be the way forward if anyone out there wants to take up the reins. GenoTab is really my last gasp at GenoPro report writing.

OK.  I'll try a few things.  And anyhow, I'm only updating my on-line web site once or twice a year and don't use a complete Genogram for that.
