For instance, I would prefer to display nicknames in parentheses after (not in the middle of) the legal name.

GenoPro -> Menu -> File -> Properties.

Select the tab Automatic / Default. You will see a list of possible templates you can choose.

None of those templates puts the nickname in parentheses after (not in the middle of) the legal name.
