I'm trying to generate a report which includes location maps. It seems that unless I include the Latitude and Longitude values in the "Place Properties" my report does not show the MAP ICON.
Do I need to enter the Lat Long for every location I have on my family tree?

I am using the latest skin from here https://support.genopro.com/Topic40608.aspx

Thank you

Yes, everything is the same except I selected  "road" not terrain.

The map icon and text will be added to the home page of Narrative Reports that have one or more places.  The pushpin icon will be added 'place' pages following the place name title of places that have latitude & longitude values set to allow display of a location map for that place.

Clear your browser cache to ensure you are viewing your most recent Narrative Reoort.

Thank you for the explanation, it's exactly what I am seeing. Unless I explicitly specify a latitude/longitude there is no pushpin (what I called MAP ICON) and cannot view a map of the location.

Before posting I scoured the web but did not find this explained anywhere.

Once upon a time I used Google Maps API to create location maps and also perform address lookups (geocoding) but then Google demanded API keys and credit card details, at which point I drew back and implemented the Leaflet/OpenStreetMap solution instead.  I recently added the satellite icon (if you can recognise it!) alongside the pushpin to give a Google Maps view of the geocoded location  using the standard Google Maps web page.

But following your post I discovered Google's 'Maps URLs' which allows use of a URL to lookup a place name name/address add display a google map of that location.
So I will enhance the satellite icon action to include non geocoded places.  Of course depending on the address information associated with a place then the map location may not be accurate at all Crying

That would be awesome. I only discovered a few days ago that Google maps were no longer working. I hadn't done any updates since 2016. Your work with this is very much appreciated.

Sorry to ask here... I'm trying to start a new topic in the forum but the only options I have is Reply when I open an existing post. I cannot create a new one.
I am logged in to my account and have tried Chrome and Edge browsers.
I obviously opened this new post a few days ago but now I can't.

Any ideas
Thanks

Yes the forum is a bit of a maze.  For a new post you need to open the correct (sub)forum, not a topic within a forum. So on the breadcrumb trail above left click 'Report Generator' to open that forum and then click New Topic. For other forums click the  Home breadcrumb instead and then  scroll down to find the required forum.

Hope this helps Smile
