This has always been available - to some extent. If you use the Family Wizard (Press F or open Tools) you only enter the surname once. To add people directly to the screen you only need to start typing a name and a drop down menu will start showing names you have used, where they can be selected. Automatic enetering can create errors. Here any name is one you have entered directly

In most genealogy software (Family Tree Maker, Gramps, Legacy, etc.), when adding children, the system does not automatically fill in the surname according to the father or mother, because surname selection depends on customs, culture, and personal choice. Therefore, you have to enter it manually by default.

if you select the family line and you make clic on the upperr icon, (or with the contextual menu or with the "F") you will open the "family wizard"
on this window you can easily say what ist the last name of all the children
note: it works with one last name, but not for two

When I add a son or daughter I need to manually fill his or her last names (father last name and mother last name).Is it possible to configure that in an automatic way?
