I have been using various versions of GenoPro, off and on, for over 20
years
- I
started
with version 1 from a cover disk of all things! Life happened, children, house moves,
job
changes, health issues - all the normal stuff.
Now I
find
I have three
different versions
on my computer with over 150
genograms
spread between them - and I cannot find anybody.
My heritage is complicated. I was
adopted
for a start but my bio-dad wasn't my bio-mum's
husband
. She got around a bit and had children with 4 different men. The folks who brought me up were confusing in a different way - too much to go into here.
I would really appreciate being able to search for
individuals
without needing to know which genogram - and which version of genopro - they are in.
I would also like to be able to 'cut-n-paste' between versions rather than having to re-enter everybody.

I wonder why you are using three versions of GenoPro? I think my approach would be to migrate all .gno files to my
latest version
. Your forum profile suggests version 2.0.0.5 but I assume you have at least the last version of
GenoPro 2011
i.e. 2.5.4.1. Do you have problems when opening older versions under your latest version?
Once you have all .gno files migrated to your latest version you can amalgamate your genograms into a single unified .gno file by copying one by one all objects in each genogram and pasting into a new empty
GenoMap
in your unifiied .gno.
Then you can look at the Table of Individuals sorted into
date of birth
and then last name, first name order and look for duplicated individuals. After comparing properties of each matching individual and updating the 'main' one with any missing
information
from the other , convert the 'other' to a
hyperlink
to the main individual (select 'main' press 'H' then right click, select 'Move to GenoMap', select GenoMap containing other, drag close to other and left click. select other, press X to delete it, then right click hyperlink and connect to parent/spouse/child same as other was.)
