is there anyway that if you link a photo to a person it could move /copy the picture to the directory that the .gno file resides ( perhapse in a folder with the persons id number or name)

example if i link a picutre of robert barbrow it would move it to c:\genopro\geno's\rbarbrow

where all the geno files live in geno's so that can zip it up fairly easily and send it out to family memebers for review.

Eventually there will be an option to copy all pictures in a given folder. Another option I want to add is a "Pack 'n Go" to store the pictures in the .gno file.

GenoPro Beta 12 has a special dialog to rename the picture paths into a different folder. Take a look in the "Tools" menu and you will find this dialog. This dialog is handy if you have moved your pictures to a different folder and/or computer.

one other thing

and this is probably a bit more advanced

but i thought i would throw out my suggestions / wish

could you select a section of the picture ( i.e the face area) and make that pop up in the square / or circle as kinda of a thumb nail?

You mean a big "tool tip" with the picture in it?

I think what crash893 means is where you can emphasize a certain part(person) in a picture which shows many persons, but you do not want to cut the picture apart. I have seen this function once in a genealogy software from the UK. Let's say a picture from a wedding with many people, but an individual shown on this picture highlighted/circled/etc. Another person circled somewhere else in the picture. And so on.
If I remember correctly it was in "Famlily Historian".
Just checked the page, here is the link:

Oh, I see. This is a great suggestion. I will have to think of a solution for this because in GenoPro 2.0, the pictures are shared. The "rectangle" cannot be stored with the picture itself, but as a combination of a picture and an individual (or a family or something else such as a building).

Writing a square in white or some other color is easy and could be used later to create a thumbnail as the individual's picture. On the technical side, I still have to think what storage strategy I am going to use.

Since people do not have a square face I think a circle/oval colored figure would be more appropiate, especially if you think of group pictures. A square figure would include too much information of the persons next to him/her. Just a suggestion.

i think square would be fine as long as you can set the crop on it then you can exclude anyone from a group

it would be cool if you could do square for male and circle for female
