Yes, you are answering the question. At the moment, the
report generator
(version 1.91b) does generate an index of names sorted alphabetically. I agree this is not very sexy when the
genealogy
is very large. This is why I have been working to integrate the VBScript and JavaScript (with the full XML data) so users can have the flexibility to
easily
customize their reports.

I would like a report which could be understood by other
members
of the
family
. Something like the reports in (sotto voce)
Family Tree
Maker - I quite like their reports but their
genograms
or
trees
are vastly inferior to GenoPro's. In fact, my
wife
paid
about
£100 for FTM several
years
ago as a Christmas prezzie for me and I have never had the heart to tell her I still use GenoPro. Anyway, the report would probably start with the earliest couple in any one line and give their details as per whatever I had written behind the name on the tree, and then move on to their children, then their children's children etc.
I have never seen it done but I often think that a report ought to start with someone on the bottom of the tree - typically myself - and then move gradually through each generation - my parents and their
siblings
, then my grandparents and their siblings, etc., etc. That's what I do everytime I show a tree to someone. "This is me and these are my parents..........."
The point is, colleagues and
contacts
who use FTM can distribute reports which make some sort of sense. My GenoPro reports are totally confused, starting with ID001 - whomsoever I first entered on the tree - and then moving through everyone I ever included on the tree in whatever order I put them on it. Total confusion. Maybe I have been producing these confused jumbles of facts for the last four years simply because I have been pressing the wrong button. If so let me know and I will go away and hide.
Does this
help
explain the problem?
Regards,
Boyd
(Love the new
Beta version
- all my direct ancestors are in yellow boxes!!)

Can you give a more detailed example of the report you want?

How can I structure a report so that it follows some sort of chronology or familial pattern? At the moment all my reports simply follow the ID number which is not very useful for giving to friends and family to accompany the genograms which I produce for them. :?
