Do you mean a combination of "Select direct Ancestors" + "Select direct Descendents"?

No, what I mean is:

The people I include in my tree are all individuals who are even remotely related to me (or my wife) by blood (i.e. at least one common ancestral root), plus their spouses (I stop there because otherwise the sky is the limit). Often, when I tell to relatives of mine that I collect genealogical information about the family, they are interested to have it. However, not all relatives of mine are necessarily relatives of them too. Thus, I would find it very useful to be able to:

1. Select one specific individual, and

2. Automatically select all other individuals in the GenoMap who are blood-related to him/her (not only direct ancestors and descendents, but also e.g. his/her grandparents' cousins and the latter's children, etc.)

Basically, being able to select, for a specific individual, all other individuals with whom there is at least one common (ancestral) root.

I don't know if such a feature would be useful to other users, it could be just my personal needs.

Thanks and regards.

I understand now. The answer to your suggestion is the Privacy Filer. I will add the option to the privacy filter allowing to keep a portion of the genealogy tree based on certain criterias. The privacy filter could be applied before generating a report, or exporting the genealogy tree to a .gno, .xml or .ged file.

It seams to me it's a little bit more complicated, but it could be resolved with something like export-> selection... arrange...

...and selection might be done with already present functions... (as I do it now) select direct ancestors/descendents, right-click, select mate...

I have the same problem...
Why should distant relatives from one side of tree know all about some other families not even related to them?! And I have redesigne file each time someone asks me to give them a copy...

Biggest problem after copy/paste of selection, to me is, arranging a new tree...

I find that with a large tree you need to separate the data onto different Genomaps to make it clear to a viewer.
Use the different maps for each family so there is no need to re-arrange - just give them their part

The way I'm arranging trees makes everything logical (for me that is). Unfortunately it keeps the relatively greatest part of tree on first map... As it happens, almost all individuals on that tree/map (some 98% including "mates") are blood related to me.

I could sometime simplify views by splitting everything in larger number of smaller branches connected with hyperlinks. Then I'd have a new problem, and this is that, currently, selection doesn't follow hyperlinks...

But that's just my view... Smile

Hello, I try to make a selection in the tool and past it as an image to word. Everything goes to the right and 10% is visible; is this a tool setting? Thanks for your help

Works fine for me using Word 2013.  Maybe it's an issue with your version of Word?  Try pasting into a different program to check this (e.g. LibreOffice Writer or Inkscape)
