i agree with you that there might not be enogh people to attain " fusion" but i would rather that than a bunch of idots spam up the place

My suggestion: The forums will be open to view. But if someone wants to write, he will have to register as a GenoPro user.

There will be another section for the "Master Index" different from http://FamilyNameSearch.GenoPro.Com/<FamilyName>/.   GenoPro can reuse the same database of names and create many tools, such as a dedicated forum for each surname.

Everyone will be able to view & browse those web resources.  To add information to the master index, users would have to register, or at least subscribe to the newsletter.  Anonymous posts leads to spam and/or database vandalism.

now they both have 4 ansestors in common

will this feature let them see the other tree to see what else they have in common

or does it simply open up a thread on the forums that they can look in and see that some one else has a shared ancestory

Both Smile

Sorry to be a party-pooper, but I don't think this is the wisest way to research for names.  My suggestion is that a small database be created, with the surnames appearing there.  A single upload will include all the names on your list, as well as research existing names.  A return from such an upload, or a search with these names, will bring up someone's alias (instead of direct email) who also has these surnames.  In this manner, we can find out if someone else has similar names, and can quickly contact them.

Just my 2 cents...

How does one find out if the names in common are actually related?

There is something wierd on this forum.  I tried to post a message and was unable to.  Also, I tried to delete one of your "empty" message and it deleted another message.  I think there is a bug in the database regarding this thread.

This thread has been more useful than you think.  One of the first task my brother Jean-Claude will do is a database repository to store all the names, so they can be updated individually, and people can receive email notifications on specific surnames.

I used to use "Legacy" (before discovering GenoPro) which has a Search button on the Tool Bar with dropdown menu containing "Search Internet for Current Person" amongst other possibilities, which opens a small window containing various choices such as "FamilySearch"(LDS), "Altavista", "Inteliseek", "RootsWeb" , "Geneology.com" etc. and these can be customised at will by the user.

Their system would be ideal for GenoPro.

I still have Legacy on my computer but only use it as a backup for making gedcoms incase I have a problem with GenoPro and also for doing Internet searches.
