I didn't know should I post it under Suggestions or here...

Some family members identify women (mostly) by their maiden last name, som under wedded...

So, would it be possible or needed or both (We might have a poll about it!) to have all the persons listed under both last names...

In report generator it might even be listed as Name, Last_Name see also/known as Name, 2nd_last_name...

Are you suggesting a page "toc_maiden_names.htm" similar to "toc_individuals.htm"?

Along this same line, What is the correct way to show a womans name?  Should they always be listed as there maiden name only?  It seems to me that it is very confusing when running the report generator.

In studying genealogy we are primarily following blood lines, and their interaction. I believe maiden names should always be used. Name changes during the life of a person are very common, and are usually resulted by marriage, but can also be because of legal name change, sex change as well as cultural reasons. To show some order we need to keep people on blood lines with occasional use of emotional relationships, and show other names used via the property pages where necessary.

I agree with Poolzone.  Maiden Names should appear.

I agree with Poolzone.  Maiden Names should appear.

Then am I doing it the correct way according to my attachment?

I would leave out the husband's surname altogether. This seems to be the most common way of doing it.  If you leave it the way you have it in your example (assuming that "Steinman" is her husband's name), what would you do if she married again?  I have one female who married three times!

So tell me then is this the proper way to fill them out?

Many users put the husband's name under the 'Alternative Names' field, just leaving the Maiden Name in the 'Family Name / Maiden Name / Surname' field.

Correction (3 Jan) -  I should have referred to 'Second Last Name' field, not 'Alternative Names'.
