I have places and sources that have pictures, but the Picture Index doesn't seem to be generated correctly for these categories.

Taking Places as an example, I think the problem lies in Lang.vbs with the WriteHtmlTocPlaces subroutine (and the equivalent routines for sources, etc)

I seems that a place node will only be added "If Not fPicturesOnly", so this routine won't ever work when called from toc_pictures.htm, since it calls the subroutine with fPicturesOnly set to true.

Looking more carefully at the "Sub WriteHtmlTocPlaces(fTreeOpen, fPicturesOnly)" I realise I was wrong about the cause - I didn't really pay attention to the "or" in the following statement which evaluates to true since "PicturesIncluded" is greater than 0 :

If Not fPicturesOnly or p.Session("PicturesIncluded") > 0 Then

My new theory Wink is that it could be due to the code that restricts child entries from appearing at the top level.

If Not fChild Or Session("fIndexChildPlacesAndSources") Then AddPlaceNode p, (fChild And p.Children.Count = 0), fTreeOpen, fPicturesOnly

I'm not at my own PC, so I can't run the report with the suppression of child entries turned off to test this.

Yes you are correct the problem is caused by the supression of duplicate child entries. Revision 2011.05.29 of the Narrative Report skin (see Latest 'English Narrative Report' skin  ) circumvents this by never suppressing these entries when producing the picture index. There is still a limitation in that child places/sources with pictures will only be shown under their parent place/source if the parent also has pictures.  They will of course now be shown as stand-alone entries.
