I also do not see how to add a miscarriage to the genogram.
We seem to have skimmed over this. To mark a Miscarriage, Stillbirth, or an Abortion, you simply create the individual, mark them as "Deceased," and select Miscarriage, Stillbirth, or Abortion as the Cause of Death. Each of those three options will provide a different Genogram symbol for the individual.

As far as the main subject of the Thread goes, if I'm not mistaken, the GenoPro team currently is (and has been) developing a redesigned GenoPro, fairly certain more-or-less from scratch. While it's overdue, and I have my doubts if it'll ever be released, I can see from a developer standpoint that making updates, minor or significant, to the old-GenoPro that is publicly released, is a waste of time.

Provided the next iteration of GenoPro supports the concept of a Gender and Sexual Orientation Spectrum, I don't see a problem with the public version currently being a little ... cumbersome.

Thanks for the indications... I guess choosing a diamond to tag someone who doesn't identify as a male or a female will do for now. I will ignore for now the tag label for diamond to be a "Pet" though... This is absolutely dreadful. I do hope the next update brings the gender markers to the 21st century! As is, it leaves much to be desired...

There is the last option of Don't Know. This puts a ? on the display. This is a good description of Don't Know but may not be suitable

Heteroflexibility describes the sexual behavior of someone who identifies as straight but sometimes has sex with people of the same sex. Some research indicates that as much as 15% of the U.S. population identifies as heteroflexible.
Legate N, Rogge RD. Identifying basic classes of sexual orientation with latent profile analysis: Developing the multivariate sexual orientation classification systemArch Sex Behav. 2019;48(5):1403-1422. doi:10.1007/s10508-018-1336-y

I have got my program to add sexual orientation and Transgender - however, I think There needs to be a Non-binary option.  Can both transgender options and non-binary be added to the G"Gender " section right along with male and female?

I have also seen some options for polyamory and symbols for a polycule - but non on Genopro.

I understand your concern. When I started writing GenoPro in 1997, yes 26 years ago, I was a full-time student in Computer & Electrical Engineering. GenoPro was a hobby during my "spare" time, and never thought it would become so popular. At that time I there were males and females and some suggested pets to their family trees, so I decided to reuse the same memory bits to designate a pet to honor file compatibility. In retrospect it was a mistake.

Thank you for the link https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10508-018-1336-y

If you have suggestions for symbols for designating sexual orientation, please post some images here. I will make sure GenoProX is better at handling those situations.

Hi! I'm a non-binary individual, in training to be a social worker. I feel like I can answer this query. My legal gender marker on my ID in the US, both on my passport and my state-issued driver's license is "X." Of course, this is a very recent development, and not the same as my assigned gender at birth (generally via genital sexing), my chromosomal/hormonal/gonadal/other biological sex identifiers (which don't always align neatly), or how I identify in casual conversation. Isn't sex and gender fun?

I have a simple and possibly radical solution to propose. Instead of "Gender," use "Assigned Gender" or "Assigned Gender at Birth" with the following options: male (square), female (circle), other (upside down triangle), pet (diamond), unknown (question mark). This means the rare intersex child will also be able to represent themselves more accurately, now that coercive/nonconsensual genital surgery mostly doesn't happen. Then, instead of "Transgender," use "Identified Gender" with the following options: male (square), female (circle), other (upside down triangle). This is simple and inclusive (since not all people who identify as something other than male or female identify as trans or nonbinary), and would be a simple and direct correlation between inner and outer shapes for coding purposes, resulting in genogram symbols that align with generally accepted genogram symbols. The assigned gender would be the inner shape, and the identified gender would be the outer shape, and I wouldn't have to put my ex-wife in as "female to male" to get the appropriate MtF symbol of a square within a circle, touching the sides, as shown below.

Might I also suggest you update your symbols for sexual orientation, since it currently shows the same symbol for all non-heterosexual people? I've included an image below that reflects commonly accepted symbols, which is really just an upside down triangle not touching the sides for homosexual identities and the same in a dotted line for bisexual identities. I think this would be better than the double line triangle currently in use. For asexual identities, there doesn't seem to be an accepted symbol. Perhaps inverting the floating inner triangle, turning it, or adding a dot to the top edge, to distinguish them from other queer relationship orientations? These are, of course, all umbrella terms for identities that are often more nuanced or more specifically labelled by the individual. As a social worker, I would probably put specific terms in the notes section, since genograms (while sometimes quite complex) are more of a quick sketch of a snapshot in time, especially once you throw emotional relationships into the mix!

I'm an absolute nerd for this stuff, so thank you for the work you've done in providing this tool for people to use. It's made my queer and polyamorous family a bit easier to map out visually for others, like therapists and partners. I hope this post is helpful and I'm not terribly late to the party!

I did see something further down about not seeing tools for notating polycules, but I didn't have any trouble mapping those out, especially using households, emotional relationships, and the various relations available, like cohabitation, non-sentimental cohabitation, casual, one-night stand, etc. Perhaps those were changes you already made though, between when the post was made and now, when I'm replying.
