I see in the introduction to 2.16 that the ability to contact the owner of a site has been added. I am guessing this refers to the site at http://familytrees.genopro.com/, listing GenoPro sites and giving connection to the Control Panel.

I am now very cautious about giving out my email address as in earlier days it was picked up on mail.tos and also my ISP published a list of emaill addresses, until you opted out. I am getting a large number of offers of cheap medicines - often from Canada of course!

It would be useful if the page that appears when you enter a password protected URL, in addition to the box asking for password, contained a link to a form that allowed the visitor to request a password. If this is done using a safe form, then the email address is hidden. I have been thinking of adding this to my own sites, but not got round to it yet. It would be helpful if this form could specify who the request is coming from, ie why they wish to see the site.

Hy,

In Genopro forums and registration I've been using a very old alias, that I've got from my first ISP long time ago... I don't recall if I submited it anywhere else, but have to admit, I DON'T receive any spam on this adress! (FYI,  I get aproximately 50 spam mails daily on various mail adresses...) So I beleive this forum and/or Genopro servers haven't been breached (yet, at least)!

On other adresses I get mails from all arround the world, Canada also!

This forum uses script that don't reveal recipients adress, if it's the case with this "Contacting site owner" command, I support it!

BTW, JC, "Spell Check" returns me Error on page.

We designed the page http://familytrees.genopro.com/Contact-Author.aspx to eliminate spam. The contact page uses the contact mechanism of this forum. If a visitor is not a member of this forum, he/she has to register or enter a captcha to send a private message or email.  Your email is never revealed.

This is fine - except a link is needed between the page http://familytrees.genopro.com/Password-Required.aspx?url=....
and http://familytrees.genopro.com/Contact-Author.aspx

so that if a person has forgotten, or needs, a password this can be requested.

Could there be a link to http://familytrees.genopro.com/Contact-Author.aspx integrated in homepage of report published on Genopro's site!

It could be added to script with option to appear if report is published to http://familytrees.genopro.com !?

If you publish using the built-in skin "English Narrative Report" from Beta 16, you should see a little envelope  at the right of the report title.  See http://familytrees.genopro.com/Alfi/RO-CE-Kreiner/20060607/ for example.

By the way, your report is hidden if password-protected.  Therefore it is impossible for a visitor to be aware there is such a report, never mind contacting the author.

1. There is still a simple roundabout by which it is possible to see all the trees published by someone (including hidden and password protected). Is it posible to have this "page" as a homepage for an author of trees, and edit in in some way?

2.I published my tree (with 16c) as password protected, and there is no envelope, nor any other kind of link?!

You need to select the built-in skin named "English Narrative Report".  You are probably publishing using Beta 16c with using a custom skin.  If your skin begins with a backslash (\), it means a custom skin.

Displaying the list of hidden trees published would not make them hidden anymore. Password-protected reports are not displayed because we want visitors to view genealogy reports without requesting them to type a password.
