I need some technical advice.  I keep logging onto GenPro, requesting info from someone else's files (through Bing).  Although it opens GenPro and I can get into my files, it keeps knocking me out of the ones I am trying to research.    I only recently bought the software and it has opened this particular file before. Any idea what I am doing wrong?  Please forgive me if I am in the wrong forum.  Thank you.

I presume you are talking about files on http://familytrees.genopro.com.  If you wish to contact the author of a publication, simply click on the little envelope at the top of the publication, or send me the URL of the file and I will contact the author on your behalf.

It would be helpful if you were a little more descriptive of the event that takes place.

Is there any way, in addition to the gno file, to backup all the linked files (pictures, etc) with there relative path to the gno ?

I'd like to backup online but the prompt does not appear in the File menu - I have Genopro 2007

You don't see the menu item Online Backup from the File menu?

For more information, you are welcome to visit http://www.genopro.com/help/backup-online/

Earlier Beta versions dont do the automatic import, and an error message comes up.

Yes.  I wrote some code to detect an XML content when a .gno file is opened.  If the content appear to be XML, then GenoPro imports the XML document instead of opening it as a native .gno.  This feature is only available since Beta 2.b18e.

By the way, I fixed a bug where sometimes the .gno extension would not be appended if there was already a dot in the file.  In the future, all files sent to other users will end with .gno which will make them easier to open.

Okay, I've got the picture.  Looks like the downloaded file (with GNO suffix, but actually in XML format) imports automatically in Beta 2b18e as a GNO file.  Earlier Beta versions dont do the automatic import, and an error message comes up.

Humm... you are right.  Sometimes the attachment is opened in the browser or with Notepad.  We need to take a look at the Content Type and the disposition.

This is a feature by design.  The extension .gno can be a native .gno file or an .xml file.  If GenoPro detects a .gno file with XML content, then it uses its import module to import the XML data.
