Excellent, just what I've been waiting for. Ran fine for me with MS Word. I appreciate that it is a beta and thus will not dwell on minor issues, the only one I would raise that is not previously reported is that the narrative does not seem to construct for contact information.

See Spanish translation for a soultion this this bug.

Just thought I ought to post a progress report on the Descendants Report. Unfortunately life has got in the way and I have had a number of family matters to deal with and so progress has been slow.

Therefore I anticipate a week or two before the next beta. I do have the MS Word interface largely working so that will be in the next version. It runs slower than OO but I will switch off visibility to improve speed. I also intend, as per suggestions, to share the Dictionary with the Narrative Report. I will fix as many of the bugs and suggested enhancements as possible. If there is time I would like to add a selection by family so that descendants of a couple can be shown.

Thank you for your patience.

A kind of core dictionary would also be useful. Currently the enumerations (like the types of unions or cause of death) must be translated from the application itself + for all reports, which listing (for example) family details. It will also help to maintain the coherency of the translations, as the same translation will be used everywhere, regardless, who the translator was Smile

If there is a necessity, I can write code for a skin to "borrow" the dictionary of another skin.  In software, almost everything is possible.

Hi,

Assuming you're talking about the report, Ron said in his initial posting:

'This is the first beta and there is still much work to do. At present only the bare esssentials are reported, 'bells & whistles' will come later. The Dictionary needs pruning - it is basically the same one as the Narrative Report with some minor changes but has a lot of dead wood that needs removing. I suggest that no attempt is made just yet to translate this report.'

Up to you.

Cheers

JC

Hi all,

Is this only possible in English or may be in Dutch?

Hi All,

Ron, congratulations on your beta release!  I'm impressed with the software!

Only one crit. My grandfather had an affair many years ago, your report reports it correctly as "x and y were once having a love affair (would prefer to see affair, but that's my issue). The child of this family is: "

I would not like it to say family - I would like it to say "relationship". ie.

"x and y were once having a love affair. The child of this relationship is:"

Thanks so much again, even as a first beta your software beats the other shareware narrative reporting software offerings! Smile

Hi,

9) Something's wrong with the Citations & Sources Nar:

I had the same problem and checked my xml file, but could not find any difference to other sources. So I deleted that source and recreated it and the problem disappeared.
But this does not tell why it happened in the first place?
