I am trying to run GenoPro on a new
installation
of
Linux
/Ubuntu (v10.04) using Wine v1.2 as a Windows program loader. I followed the instructions at http://www.genopro.com/setup/wine/ and everything installed properly including a desktop icon with the embedded wine executable with a path to the GenoPro program file at C:\Program Files\GenoPro\GenoPro.exe. When I click on the icon, a status bar item opens up showing 'Starting GenoPro' for
about
10 seconds but then it closes and nothing else happens. The program does not open/load.
I see there is an entry in the WineHQ database for GenoPro at http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=8822. It indicates that GenoPro 2.x will work with Linux/Ubuntu and Wine but you have to install a supplemental module called Winetricks. I checked and I had already installed the
latest version
of Winetricks but I went ahead reinstalled it... still the same problem with a partial start and then nothing. I have rebooted to make sure everything is registered and configured properly and the system is running fine otherwise. I have several other Windows programs running on the system with no problems.
So I'm just hoping there might be some new
information
or
tips
from others on this topic.
