I just finished reading The Seven Daughters of Eve by Bryan Sykes, and on
page
292 he suggests using matrilineal
trees
to track the passing of mitochondrial DNA.
Since one of my trees is a One
Place
Study with a lot of endogamous
marriages
, I'd like to display matrilineal trees as well as patrilineal. Is there an easy way of doing this?
I was thinking of just creating a new
genomap
, and labelling it mt1, mt2, etc and hyperlinking in
individuals
. If someone had their mtDNA tested, I could relabel the genomap with the correct name.
Is there an easier, more elegant way to do this? Any thoughts on the downside of all this extra effort?
