Thanks for your help

Point 7.  Making a Custom Tag --> I've never done.

Do you have instructions how to create a Custom Tag?

Hello

Please see attached log from creating Narrative Report today with:
- Dictionary.xml,
- Lang.vbs and
- Util.vbs
you sent to.

Some eg. "Error 424: Object missing (C:\Omat Jutut\Sukututkimus\SaksinSuku\KuvatSaksi\Teljentie12.JPG)" messages.
Saying; "Tarkistusta peukalokynnen ylläpidon tarpeelle ei voida suorittaa".   In english;  ~Checking of thumbnail....could not be processed".

Is there some data missing in my database?

I cannot explain why when you run the report with the amended files the script fails to find some or all of your photos/images.  When I run a report with the same files everything is OK.

Your report log shows that the file version.txt is missing from the Narrative Common\Code folder.  This is unusual but should not cause the errors you are seeing.

Have you tried running the report again? If so it the problem still there?

In order to progress this problem perhaps you could zip up the contents of the Narrative Common\Code folder and attach it to a post here so that I can download and examine it.

Please also check that the folder Code under your {FI} Kerronnallinen Raportti folder is a Windows junction pointing to the Narrative Common\Code folder. e.g. (your skins folder will be in a different location Smile )

C:\>dir "C:\Users\ron\Dropbox\Genealogy\GenoPro\Skins2018\{FI} Kerronnallinen Raportti"

Hello

My folder "C:\Users\jarmo\AppData\Roaming\GenoPro\Skins\{FI} Kerronnallinen Raportti" directory does not include "junction" -line as you showed in your msg.
In this "C:\Users\jarmo\AppData\Roaming\GenoPro\Skins" folder I have all skins ie. for all languages.

Please find also attached "{FI} Kerronnallinen Raportti" directory zipped by name "Jarmos Zip.zip".

Hello

I still get the same error messages running the Narrative Report ie. the report cannot find photographs?

Have you found any peculiarities in my folder I attached (zip-file) in my previous message that I should correct?

BR, Jarmo

Several of the files in your Code folder are different from what I would expect to find in Narrative Common\Code. Try renaming your Code folder to say Code-old and rerun report. This should recreate the Junction with Narrative Common\Code.
I am in the process of making some revisions to the reports and when done, hopefully in a few days, I will post a revised skins bundle.

Hello

Thanks for your message.

1. I renamed Narrative "Common\Code" to "Code-old".
2. Rerun report and it created succesfully a new "Narrative Common\Code" -folder.
3. I run "Narrative Report" again but unfortunately it didn't recreate the Junction with Narrative Common\Code?

I'll look forward to your revised skins bundle.

'Step 2.' does not create a new Narrative Common\Code folder,

Instead step 2 creates a special folder C:\Users\jarmo\AppData\Roaming\GenoPro\Skins\{FI} Kerronnallinen Raportti\Code that is a link (or a Junction) pointing to C:\Users\jarmo\AppData\Roaming\GenoPro\Skins\Narrative Common\Code.  This is done so that all Narrative Reports share the same scripts.

You have run step 2 successfully and so the link should now exist. Please run the command

dir "C:\Users\jarmo\AppData\Roaming\GenoPro\Skins\{FI} Kerronnallinen Raportti"

from a command prompt and post the output back here. I would like to see the result, perhaps in Finnish Windows it is called by another name.

I wonder if it is only photos in C:\Omat jutut\Sukututkimus\SaksinSuku\KuvatSaksi\ folder that have this problem. I presume in the past you have created reports successfully without this problem.  Please could you confirm whether or not other foilders with photos give the same error and whether or not you have previously generated a report successfully.
It is unlikely that the new skins bundle will fix this problem unless it is caused by some corruption in your Narrative Common\Code folder.  The last bundle I published can be found at http://support.genopro.com/Topic38889.aspx It may be worth you extracting the Narrative Common folder from that zip archive.

After running, from command prompt, the command you asked me, got the following message:

Emme löytäneet tuloksia haulle dir C:\Users\jarmo\AppData\Roaming\GenoPro\Skins\{FI} Kerronnallinen Raportti

Translated ~"We did not find results for search dir C:\....."

Yes I've run the Narrative Report successfully earlier (a few months ago).  This problem is the same for any *.gno I have, that is not only for one family but all.
This problem raised it's head during translating the Dictionary.xml -file.

I tried to go to the link you gave for latest bundly of skins but got following message: "The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable."?

You have stated in an earlier post that your Finnish Narrative Report is located at "C:\Users\jarmo\AppData\Roaming\GenoPro\Skins\{FI} Kerronnallinen Raportti". That is why I asked to see the output from a 'dir' command on that folder!

Please provide the out from a 'dir' command run against your Narrative Report skin folder.

I inadvertently included some punctuation '. ' at the end of the link to the skins bundle. I have now corrected that link in many earlier post and it now works correctly.

The problem you are having is due to a Microsoft Scripting component, known as the 'File System Object'.  I use in the script to access the date modified of photos to determine whether or not a new thumbnail is required. But for some unknown reason after locating the folder containing the photo it is unable to retrieve details of the files within it.  This is most unusual and I now wonder if it has been caused by an update to the Windows Operating System.
