When Google Maps became available I created, with the Tag Editor, 4 custom tags under Mapping/_MappingCustomization Map.Google.Zoom/Width/Height/Type and populated Zoom and Type. This worked correctly. I could not find any details how to migrate to Open StreetMap. As I had used this mapping service on other sites I had developed and populated the Zoom function I new it worked correctly. I therefore changed the tag names to Mapping/_Mapping and Map.Location.Zoom/Width/Height/Type with the Tag Editor. Now only the maps use the coordinates for the centre and the default Zoom value. I notice that the correct Zoom value is being passed to the mapping software so what have i ddone wrong? The only instructions I found was the tool tips on the Location Maps page of the NarrativeReport Parameter Settings which was only visible for a very short length of time so i had to photograph it to read it. Also it mentioned to add 3 custom tags and them listed 4. There is no details on what Height and Width values are for, or what Type does in OpenStreetMap. I wish to get this working before I untertake to correct the location of all the maps on my family trees. I did notice that there is still under Properties -> Narrative report and lot of Google Maps tags. Are these necessary or am I the remove these?

It looks like my conversion from Google Maps to OpenStreetMap is incomplete Sad

I need to do more work here and further testing & documentation.

I wasn't aware that custom tags for maps were actually being used.

Type determines map type i.e. 0 = road, 1 = terrain and 2 = watercolour. Width & Height determine the size of the map when displayed online on the Place page. However some of the custom tag references still have .Google. In their names in my code. I think I should change this so we have Map.Type, Map.Zoom, Map.Width & Map.Height.  I think Width & Height should perhaps be percentages rather than absolute pixel values.

Does OpenStreetMaps have an option for Satellite view (in addition to the other 3 you mentioned)?

Thanks for the prompt reply. I now know I am not going senile! I only use the zoom function as I identify actual locations in large town with large scale plans, where I have found the actual address during my research. I will continue refining my coordinated and await a future update to fix the zoom values.

Thanks - I have downloaded and installed your latest Report template. Zoom now works although I haven't changed the tag from Map.Location.Zoom to Map,Zoom as in your instructions. Also the last sentence in your tool tip is not complete ("You can")? There is some instability where the map icon is missing when you select a overview map first then go to the Place menu and select one. After selecting a place from an individual report the icons come back and work perfectly until the browser is closed. This is hard to reproduce so I can call it a feature! My next task is fixing my coordinates as Newfoundland in no in the middle of Russia!
