So after a bit of head scratching I think I have a solution for adding background images to your Narrative Report pages

First, ensure your are using the latest Report Skin Templates, currently version 2025.03.30 (see Updates to Report Skin Templates since GenoPro 2020 version 3.1.0.1)

Then replace the the style.css file in your Report Skins Common\Code folder with the revised version attached to this post.

Then create, rename or copy your desired jpeg format background image to a a file named background.jpg  This can be saved anywhere on your PC/laptop.

Then reference this image in the .gno file from which you want to generate the report.  To do this create a text Label on a genogram and assign the image to it as a Picture.  You may want to add a comment to the Label such as 'Background image for HTML report'.  You can then shrink the Label down to say a single pixel and hide it behind another object.

Then generate your Narrative Report. the image will be copied to the media folder in the report and via the amended stylesheet style.css it will be used as a background image for each frame and it is stretched to 100% so as type fill the frame. The css lines are
background-image: url(media/background.jpg);
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-size: 100% 100%;

Update 21/05/2026:  style.css attachment updated to remove background image from header frame so as to avoid clashes with banner image

Maybe this old post could help you about background images
I never tried it myself.

For what concerns the old data, clearing the browser cache and a screen refresh might offer a solution.

Hi, is there anybody out there who can help me please?

I have 2 issues which I have no idea how to resolve (not very good with tech), so I first sent an email to genopro support but haven't had any kind of response!
So then I sent a private message to genome (mainly because it was quite lengthy) to see if they could help/advise and I haven't had anything back their either!

I'll try to be as brief as possible.  I have used Genopro for over 20 years & haven't really had much cause to post/question anything.
I had to have a new PC recently, I lost all of the web files but did keep a back-up copy of my .gno file & associated pictures. So I downloaded what I assume is a newer version and carried on updating some of my data. I then decided to upload to familytrees and here is where I had a few issues.
Before I continue I forgot to say that all of my previous uploads were somehow (can't remember how) linked to a separate .htm file which i used to update first, ie; change the date & text etc. using Microsoft Expression 4, upload to familytrees & hey presto not only had all of the pages changed their background to an image I had wanted but the home page now had the date (image & text) that was in the separate .htm file.

I've spent numerous hours in the past week trying to resolve these issues & here is where i am currently with it:-

1).  If I generate a report to my HD it runs fine, the home page looks right and it has the new date & text I added to the .htm file, but the only page that shows my different image is that main body of the .htm page.  None of the other pages have my image in the background.

2).  When I generate the report to submit to familytrees exactly the same thing happens as above apart from the home page for some reason shows the text data from an upload I did back in September 2024 - so where the heck is that being pulled from as there are no old files on my PC?

Can someone please HELP (in simpleton terms so that I can understand), I find reading some of the posts on GP go completely over my head & mean absolutely nothing to me!

HELP would be greatly appreciated please,

Regards,
GazLong
