Hi Ron! Yes, you are right, once again, I've made typing error by writing within curly braces which I guess is illegal. Corrected my error and now it seems to work. Thanks! BR, Jarmo

Dear Jarmo,
please carefully compare your phrase with mine to reveal your mistake. The error message is telling you exactly where to look!

Hello! By correcting my finnish Dictionary.xml with your suggestion in you last reply and in generating a new report I got following error msg:

[10.17] Error in WritePhrase - Illegal character 's' at position 68 in template '{ }{\U}{0}[ [{?8}[{?3}suoritti][{!}suorittaa]][{?!8}suoritti][ {9hssa}][,{1h},]][ {2}][{?3} ]{!3}[{?!3} {4}][ {5}][ {6h}n]. [{?7|12}{\U}{10}[{?12}{?!8} {12h}{11}[{?7} ja]][ {7h}]. ]'

Seems like the system doesn't like these additions. Any other ideas? BR, Jarmo

It is difficult to answer this fully with my lack of knowledge of the Finnsh language and without any test .gno file from you, but my initial thought is to add the required case endings into the Dictionary phrase e.g. (changes in red)
 <PhEducation T="{ }{\U}{0}[ [{?8}[{?3}suoritti][{!}suorittaa]][{?!8}suoritti][ {9h}ssa][,{1h},]][ {2}][{?3} ]{!3}[{?!3} {4}][ {5}][ {6h}n]. [{?7|12}{\U}{10}[{?12}{?!8} {12h}{11}[{?7} ja]][ {7h}]. ]" />
According to wikipedia the -ssa ending is the inessive case, but can also take the form -ssä and so maybe it would be better simply appended to the Institution field within GenoPro and leave this part of the phrase as it was. Alternatively I could change the code and use a dictionary-based regular expression rule to generate this inessive case from the noun if you can confirm the rules for this. Is it nouns ending in a, o or u that take ssa and all others use ssä?

The -n ending I believe is the genitive case. I have also added your required commas around the place name.

Hello! Could you please look at attached file "Narrative report.doc" (MS Word document) where I've tried to describe the latest problem I've got with the translation that I haven't been able to solve by myself. I've attached also latest translated "Dictionary.xml" in case it clarifies something. Thanks in advance! Best Regards, Jarmo

Sorry my mistake it should be <PhMalesFemalesUnknowns T="{ }{\U}{!0}[{?0=hän}ellä] {!1} {2h}." /> as hän is changed to Hän by {\U}. Also remove space after {!0}

Hello!

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work because I have in Dictionary.xml; <PhMalesFemalesUnknowns T="{ }{\U}{!0} [{?0=Hän}ellä] {!1} {2h}." /> but still the translation is; "Hän on kaksi veljeä ja kaksi sisarta..." (see attached Dictionary.xml)

Did the solution I gave in my earlier post not work?

Hello!

In "Narrative Report" I've translated "He has two brothers and two sisters, ....." with "Hän on kaksi veljeä ja kaksi sisarta, nimeltään Kai, Harri, Brita ja Ulla" but translation should be "Hänellä on....." but I don't find a place where this "Hänellä" should be given. Can you help? BR, Jarmo
